CMTSE DIRECTORY CERTIFIED MACHINE TOOL SALES ENGINEER (CMTSE) DIRECTORY The Smart Choice: Working With A CMTSE Machine tool builders and distributors are aware of the competitive pressures in the marketplace, and the impor- tance of good customer relations. Manufacturing customers who are faced with the need to continuously improve pro- ductivity in their processes in order to be more competitive are faced with increasingly more difficult decisions about the technology available to them and who they can rely on for the expertise they need to make the best decisions in considering their unique applications. Created in 1993, the Certified Machine Tools Sales Engineer (CMTSE) Certification program was born out of an industry need for a higher level of education in technical and sales expertise in order to best meet customer needs. Individuals eligible to register for the CMTSE examination are required to have prior sales and machine tool industry experience and they must learn a standard, industry-based curriculum and then successfully complete a final exam that measures their broad knowledge of manufacturing technology and processes, specific machine tool controls and technologies, as well as sales skills and an understanding of business economics and sales ethics. The CMTSE credential is the only industry-recognized professional certification program that acknowledges individuals who possess the skills and knowledge needed to perform effectively as machine tool sales engineers. Having sales professionals with the CMTSE credential on their team is a positive reflection on machine tool manufacturing and marketing organizations because it demonstrates a commitment to quality and competence for their customers. The CMTSE certification is not a one-time event, but a life long commitment. To maintain their professional designa- tion, all CMTSEs must re-certify their credential every three years. To do so, they are required to submit documentation of ongoing professional development through a variety of activities, including ongoing training that augments their proficiencies. CMTSE – ask about it, look for the logo and have a high level of confidence that your representative can be trusted to meet the highest standards in the machine tool industry!
